This book was perfection. I loved the first two books of the series and didn't think this could be better, but it was brilliant from the first page to the last. It was very emotionally intense, which for me is the best kind of intrigue. There were many times when I didn't know how the author would get Susanna and Parker out of trouble. The details were amazing and brought the scenes to life. And this wasn't just a great historical suspense story; at the heart of the book was an even greater love story.I can't say enough good things about this book and the author. I know I'll read again, more slowly, just to savor it.

I love this series and as always can't wait for the next one! These characters are vivid and are some of my favorites!
Another outstanding Michelle Diener work. If you like to escape but learn a bit of the past, these are good books to read. Fast moving and I could small the sewers of London. Can't wait for the next one.
Michelle Diener writes with cinematic excitement, while keeping the historical facts beautifully marshalled. I love this book and am reading all of her other creations.

Great mix of historical fiction and intrigue. With characters you can't help but love, from Susanna and Parker to the varied cast of secondary characters. A fantastic read.
THE SECOND SEQUEL TO THIS BOOK WAS AS GREAT AS THE FIRST. I'M HOPING THERE IS A THIRD SEQUEL! Once again it's amazing how the rich & powerful nobles got away with murder & how ruthless Henry the VIII could be.
Henry VIII has clearly lost interest in his wife. He is elevating his son by mistress, Blount, a young boy who features in this third book in series. Anne and her betrothed are hard at work surviving an increasingly treacherous court while trying to maintain their increasingly strained loyalty to a King. Loyalty they begin to question as close to the monarch they experience personally the beginnings of expanding paranoia and other less-than-noble traits.
Again, I recommend all three books for anyone interested in the Tudors and specifically the period leading up to the Boleyn epoch which essentially defined the last half of Henry's reign, in spite of her visit to the block.
